How to Use JoinCut
JoinCut - Lossless Video Merge
Cut one video into pieces, keep the ones you want, and join them back into a single video, without re-encoding.
Keep only the parts you want
Split a video into several sections and select the ones worth keeping. The sections you chose are joined, in the order you set, into one clean video.
Reorder and adjust sections
Drag sections to reorder them, and add or remove them at any time. To move a whole selection without changing its length, press and hold it on the minimap and drag.
Fine-tune each cut
The touch trimmer zooms from 1x to 8x with a minimap, so you can land the cut exactly where you want. Undo and redo any edit, up to 30 steps back.
Join several whole videos
Pick several videos instead of one and they are joined back to back, in the order you picked them. Formats that match are joined losslessly; when they differ, JoinCut re-encodes.
JoinCut also points out which video is the one forcing a re-encode, so you can drop it with a tap.
Bring videos in and save them out
Drag videos in from Finder on a Mac, or from Files on an iPad. Save straight to Photos, or pick a folder when you’re on a Mac. You can also export as a GIF.
Open MKV files too
MKV files open as well, not just MP4 and MOV. Pick one in the Files app the same way, and nothing is re-encoded.
There is a rule. The video has to be H.264 or HEVC, and the audio has to be AAC, AC-3 or MP3. A file outside that rule is not opened at all, and JoinCut tells you which part to change. If only the audio is the problem, convert just the audio to AAC and leave the picture untouched.
AVI is not supported.
Why lossless matters
Most editors re-encode your video, which costs time and quality. JoinCut leaves the original frames untouched and only stitches the parts together, so the file you save looks identical to the source and finishes quickly.
Free and Plus
Merging your chosen parts and saving losslessly, the core of the app, is free forever, with no ads.
JoinCut Plus is a one-time purchase that removes the GIF watermark, lifts the segment limit past three, lets you join three or more videos at once, and saves selected segments as separate files.
