How to Use Jumpbar
Jumpbar - Keyword Search Shortcuts
Type a short keyword, a space, and what you are looking for. Safari goes straight to that site’s search results.
Before you start
Jumpbar is a Safari extension, so turn it on in Safari’s extension settings first.
Search a site from the address bar
Type the keyword, a space, then your search words. yt cats lands on YouTube results, no search page in between, and no extra tap.
Add your own site
Paste or type the site’s search address and mark where the search words go.
Don’t know the address? Open the short guide right under the field: search that site once for a given word, come back, and Jumpbar works the rest out from what you paste.
Give one site several keywords
A site can hold more than one keyword, so you never switch keyboards mid-search. Put Namuwiki on both ㄴ and nm and you type whichever your hands are already on. Hangul initials work, and so does any other script.
Start from the gallery
Browse ready-made keywords in the keyword gallery and add one with a single tap. Every address there was checked against the live site.
Run a search from Shortcuts
Search from the Action button, a widget, Siri, or an automation. Your sites show up in the Shortcuts editor, so you pick from a list instead of typing a keyword.
Keywords that match where you are
The starter set follows your language and your region, because those are not the same thing. Wikipedia opens in your language and Amazon opens in your country’s store.
Korean devices also get Naver, Namuwiki, and Coupang. Japanese ones get Rakuten and Yahoo Chiebukuro, German ones get Kleinanzeigen, and Indian ones get Flipkart. Turn off the ones you don’t want and they drop to the bottom of the list.
Free and Plus
Built-in keywords and one site of your own are free, forever.
Jumpbar Plus is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It removes the limit on how many sites and keywords you can add, and turns on iCloud sync. Your keyword list lives on your own Apple Account, so your sites show up on every device. Sync is off until you turn it on, and turning it off removes the copy. Your search words are never part of it.
Good to know
- The extension only does anything on search engine result pages. On every other page it checks the hostname and stops.
- Your search words are compared inside the browser and never leave your iPhone.
- No account, no analytics, no ads.
